the notes on the a string
As was the case in our previous reading lessons, familiarity with the previous related lessons is necessary. If you haven't already, please refer back to the information presented in lessons Five, Seven, Nine, and Fourteen. If you've already done this, and are comfortable with this material, you are ready to tackle this lesson. Today we'll be learning three new notes : A, B, and C, all of which will be found on your 5th string. Here's the skinny:
As you can see above, A is played by hitting the open 5th string, while B is on the 2nd fret, and C is on the 3rd. Remember that what finger you use depends upon which fret you're on. As always, I've provided a little tune for you to practice which incorporates all of the notes you've just learned, as well as some of the older ones. I've included two versions, one is the melody with accompaniment, the other is just the accompaniment for you to play along with once you get the tune down. Just wait four clicks, and start wailing. The chords are written out above the staff as well, so you can practice playing the accompaniment. They're all chords that have been covered in the lessons on this website. Well, I guess that's enough yakkin' from me, so dig in! Oh yeah, don't forget that you can e-mail me with any questions...
