the tuner
get that thing in tune!
To use this tuner, first click on the button that represents the string you wish to tune. I recommend starting with the 6th string, the one furthest to your left on the screen, and the string closest to the ceiling on your guitar. Then play 6th string on your guitar and compare the two. Does the string on your guitar sound higher or lower in pitch than the note coming from the computer? Knowing the difference comes from experience, but I can offer this advice: Any time two notes are not in tune to each other, the dissonance between them can be heard as a pronounced vibration. The slower the vibration, the closer you are getting. When you think you are done with the 6th string, continue on down the line.
For best results, let each note run it's course before you try another. In order to utilize this feature you will need to have a Flash Player on your computer. Relax! Not only is it free, but it's totally harmless and extremely cool. Click here to get yours. (If your tuner is working you already have a Flash Player.)
